Lonely Love

I have been obsessively listening to Robyn's "Dancing On My Own" at the moment as it's been kinda reflecting my life right now. (#teengirlprobz) But it's such a great sad song, so I created a playlist around the song's theme and my feelings (ew) and it came out as a sad, longing, hopelessly romantic kinda playlist. Hope you guys enjoy anyway.

Blue Lagoon Goodness

Last week my sister swanned off to Iceland to celebrate her 18th, a magical volcanic place where the ground steams, elves are widely believed in and (how most people in England know of it) that place where the volcano with the funny name (Eyjafjallajökull to be precise) (seriously I'm not joking) stopped all the planes from flying. While she was there she visited the Blue Lagoon- a geothermal spa. The warm water is rich with skin saving minerals such as silica and sulphur, around the water's edge there are pots of silica mud for people to lather on their faces and bodies as a skin nourishing treat. My sister, knowing that I love all lotions and potions, brought me back a tube of the silica mud and a silica enrched face cream to try out its skin nourishing benefits for myself.

magiiiccccc

Overall, I was really happy with the facepack. It dried pretty quickly and made my skin a lot brighter and it made my skin so soft. I did just have to sit around for the next hour just stroking my face stopping me from doing any work whatsoever (such a shame).

Trying out trainers

I've never been too into trainers. As someone who, let's just say, isn't the best at sports *shifty eyes* I've had no real interest in them and have often pushed them aside hissing and whispering anti-sports spells at them. But I have been converted.
Charity shop everything except trainers (bootleg)

But what could have made me convert to this new trainer wearing age? Well for one trainers are so damn comfy. Like seriously oh am I walking on clouds, OH WAIT NO it's my trainers- which is basically the same thing. Two- I can try and pretend to be sporty, when in actuality I'll just be swanning around carefully adjusting the various layers of tulle or whatever I happen to be wearing that day. And three, the main reason, I have been inspired by Susie Bubble. She pulls of the trainer and skirt look the best, she's just done the Nike Women's Half Marathon so she can actually wear them and say she has done some kind of sport/exercise in them rather than just wearing them because they're SO PWEEETTTY. Ahem, damn Susie being stylish and raising a tonne of money for Breast Cancer, eugh some people have to have it all don't they? No, but really I've been an avid reader of Style Bubble for many years now and I want to say a big congrats to Susie for raising so much money and completing a half marathon.

Tokyo Fashion Week: Mikio Sakabe

Tokyo fashion week is certainly making a name for itself, this year Style.com are posting runway pictures from it (rejoice!)So that shows something. I don't know much about Tokyo fashion week but given the talent showcased in the shows this year I definitely want to find out more.
One of the many shows that caught my eye was Mikio Sakabe's show.
It has to be one of the best menswear shows I've ever seen, all too often I find menswear to be too bland (oh wow a suit so revolutionary...) or just really really strange. But this collection was interesting while still being very wearable. So wearable in fact that I struggled to restrain myself from reaching into my computer and ripping it off the models while whispering sweet nothings at it. (But seriously guys, big struggle, big BIG struggle)
 Them platforms *drools*
It's hard to name my favourite things about his collection because we'd be here ALL FRICKIN DAY. But I think what makes the collection so interesting are the shorts, trainers and long socks ensemble. They don't sound like a good combination but Sakabe makes them work. The bright colours of the knitwear surrounded by floating ethereal tulle robes is such a beautiful combination.
And seriously who doesn't love a home alone t-shirt.

Clic Sargent Shop

This weekend I went down to the fairly new Clic Sargent shop. The shop is a new wave of charity shops that  think about how to best present their clothes and act more like a "real" shop. This Clic Sargent shop is especially good it lays out things in a messy style, so you feel rewarded for finding an amazing gem of a piece tucked away therefore you feel like you really got a good bargain. This shop is a bit pricier than most charity shops but definitely a LOT less pricey than vintage shops.

The best thing about the Clic Sargent shop is their upcycled clothing range. They make clothing out of recycled materials or make other things into clothes! Here I am trying on a waistcoat-y thing made from an old pillowcase- now that's some good recycling. I do actually own a skirt made from an umbrella which my friend made me, but that's for another day.

The pattern reminds me of bunting, very British! I'm all Britished up, what with the Olympics and the royal wedding and most importantly the Great British Bake Off! I'm so sad it's ended even though I got WAYYYY too emotional about bread and cakes... *sigh*

I didn't end up buying the upcycled top, but I did buy this lurrrrrveeelly jacket for £3! The shoulder pads are fierce and make me feel like and 80's power business woman, not dissimilar to Hilary Devey actually...
So in summary, great clothes, great prices and very nice shop, PLUS it's all for charity! What more could you want?

Darling Darley

I'm constantly scouring the internet for pretty pictures (which is basically the main reason I have tumblr), so I was intrigued when I found this picture:
I found out that the model was Clémentine Levy, and her intricate skeletal make up was done by MademoiselleMu. The french photographer was Pauline Darley and the photos were printed in Ever Magazine. I decided to research her some more and found her website with more her lovely photos.

This shoot was obviously inspired by Frida Kahlo, plus flower crowns make anything good.

Someone get me those beaded sunglasses for Christmas?
